Apple iPhone flaunts greater battery life
Apple, Inc., has announced that the company's upcoming iPhone will have a longer battery life than they previously estimated. The new gadget promises to possess a battery that will last for eight hours of talk time, six hours of Internet, or seven hours of video playback. The company also said the iPhone battery will be able to handle 24 hours of music playback and about 10 days of standby time before it would need to be recharged again. The iPhone will only be sold at stores owned by Apple and AT&T or Apple's website.

The world's most popular video-sharing site, YouTube, has started local-language sites in nine countries. YouTube, acquired by Google, Inc., for $1.65 billion last year, will provide locally popular content in the respective country sites. Till now, even though videos and comments could be posted in any language, YouTube's site navigation menus are only in English, regardless of the fact that the majority of users are from outside America. The initial move will see each site offering fully translated local homepages; gradually, visitors will be able to experience the local feel with country-specific video ratings and comments in various sections.

Boeing appoints CIO for technology department
Boeing has appointed John Hinshaw as the new chief information officer and vice president of the information technology department. Hinshaw has been working as chief information officer of Verizon Wireless and will replace Scott Griffin, who will be retiring after serving for 28 years with Boeing. Prior to Verizon, Hinshaw held IT positions with the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Defense, and also with management consulting firm Accenture. Hinshaw will oversee all IT strategy, infrastructure, and systems operations.
