Job Description:

What is the role

The main role of the Trading Desk Analyst is to provide first class proprietary research for the Global Gasoline Team to enhance the team's ability to generate profit in both paper and physical trading space. This will be done through gaining in-depth knowledge of the global gasoline market to deliver fact-based insights into the current near term as well as future behaviors and developments of the global refining, crude oil and finished products markets.

The Trading Desk Analyst also has a secondary role to assist the trade book with building and maintaining reporting tools to gain deeper visibility and insight to the day-to-day end to end business.

The analyst will have both regional and global reach.

The Trading Desk Analyst will be accountable for:

Enhancing and maintaining the regional proprietary supply demand model for the gasoline market

Tracking and reporting of global ship movements

Maintain and improve margin forecast calculations

Working with other gasoline analysts (in the global team) to generate a globally consistent perspective of market dynamics from a short term (weekly, monthly, quarterly view) to the longer term

Gathering information and data from numerous internal and external sources to form transparent forecasts that increase confidence in modeling supply and demand.

Monitoring and communicating changes that can impact the balances in the supply and demand model.

Provide market data for the global trading business and the wider Trading organization.

Collaborate with staff in the Oil Markets team from downstream strategy to ensure Gasoline trading view is well aligned.

Finding and exploring ways to improve analytics in the fast-changing space of Big Data and machine learning.

Attend external conferences, network with other analysts and providers of useful information within the oil industry

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

This is an opportunity for an eager individual, with at least 2 or more years relevant industry experience looking for a position that demands both technical and management skills.

Both Economics and Engineering graduate with strong analytical skills could be well suited.

Refining, Economic and Scheduling experience is a plus.

Well versed in Microsoft Excel and/or Query

Candidate with computer programming skills (VBA, Java, Matlab, Python) and is proficient in Data Analytics software application (Qlickview or Spotfire) will be highly regarded.

Numerate, motivated, self-starter with good communication stills

Previous experience gained over some years encompassing Oil market analysis, Price setting, and/or Trading would be an advantage.
