The Profit Protection Sr. Analyst role will manage asset protection related activities for locations within a Best Buy Territory to include Best Buy field locations including Geek Squad, Magnolia/MDC, and Logistics including data analytics, fraud analytics, managing reporting from multiple systems and system updates and maintenance. This role works closely with Best Buy Legal, Ethics, Employee relations and the greater profit protection team on sensitive litigation and investigations. Additionally, this role works and provides local law enforcement agencies, Postal Inspectors, FBI and Secret Service subpoenaed information and video for fraud occurring within Best Buy. This position provides professional knowledge and expertise in the development of the companywide fraud analytics program Secure
(Exception Based Reporting tool)
and stays current with industry trends in fraud and its impact to Best Buy.
This role also plays a critical role in helping to coordinate and partner with Profit Protection Senior Managers and Directors to identify and understand trends, implement best practices, and ensure knowledge share and learnings are applied across the organization to mitigate future loss.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as a subject matter expert of fraud analytics, connects pieces of data to find important patterns or anomalies then develops cases based on findings
Maintains data integrity within Secure (Exception Based Reporting tool) and able to create and analyze data to support investigation and requests from field leaders
Responsible for the efforts to mitigate losses by responding to incoming internal and external requests/questions/concerns via phone and email
Provides support and training in EBR systems for field leaders and corporate partners
Responsibly accesses and utilizes PCI data per company compliance
Partners with multiple external financial institutions as it pertains to fraud and credit card fraud
Builds a solid network of cross functional partners including Retail Operations to create working relations where this position uses data to support and mitigate loss across the company
Basic Qualifications
2 years of experience in information technology, information security, or related fields
1 years of experience with information security concepts, network architecture, hardware and software troubleshooting, and/or electronic mail system
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Excel skills – pivot tables / V-lookup
1 years retail store experience with understanding of SOP and POS processes
4 years’ experience in data analysis, investigation case building
Preferred Asset Protection experience related to understanding and applying processes and SOPs to how gaps can occur
Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely; interface and present to leadership effectively
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
