GUI Application Developer

Location: Chicago

GUI Application Developer (C#) for real-time trading system (Chicago) We are a proprietary trading firm seeking a Senior Developer / Application Architect to head up a revamping and enhancement of our current proprietary trading application. This role will be responsible for the entire front-end desktop application, from building the application per our specifications, to testing, troubleshooting, and pushing out new releases with feature- and performance upgrades. This windows-based application will be integral to our business and will perform many functions outside of its main purpose of displaying real-time market data from various sources, and communicating with our ultra low latency order gateway for discretionary and automated trade (order) management.

This is a very exciting opportunity for a motivated, creative developer that is passionate about trading applications to get in on the ground level and head up a project that will become an integral application that our business will ultimately revolve around.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience building GUI desktop applications for real time trading systems, from requirements to deployment phase, and as such, be knowledgeable of best practices for such applications.

Required:

4 years GUI development in C# or VC

2 years developing and supporting high-performance, high thoughput distributed client-side real time trading GUI applications

1 years experience with a fast messaging technology (ie ZeroMQ, Tibco RV, Infomatica, RabbitMQ, etc. or proprietary)

1 years experience working with 3rd party grid controls (ie DevExpress, Telerik, Dapfor, etc)

Regular use of version control systems such as SVN, Git, CVS, etc

Extensive experience profiling, performance tuning, debugging and testing desktop UI applications.

Strong problem solver able to take ownership of a problem, troubleshoot, and come up with a solution.

Proficient with TCP and UDP

Understanding and exposure to backend Linux/c environments.

Able to independently architect solutions, lead code reviews and ensure quality throughout the life of each project.

Highly motivated self-starter who is able to work at a fast pace.

Strong communication skills

Not Required, but a plus:

Proficiency with SQL

Experience developing proprietary communication/data serialization protocol -Socket-level network programming -End-to-end trading system experience,, including developing to exchange iLink (C ) or Drop/Copy interfaces(C , C#, or Java), developing market data handlers/configuring 3rd party market data handlers in software or hardware (C , C#, Java, Verilog, VHDL).

We are a 50-person trading firm located in the Chicago Loop, minutes away from numerous CTA, Metra, and Amtrak public transportation stops . We’ve been around since the migration to electronic trading in the late 90′s and have grown our firm from 4 traders to upwards of 40.

Most of our traders were trained in-house and built their accounts from the ground up, but we also occasionally take in experienced traders. The atmosphere is very casual and entrepreneurial.
