The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the IT portfolio of projects, including project intake, assignment of resources (both internal and external), progress reporting, escalation of issues affecting project success, and project closeout.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Project Manager works with University leaders and cross functional teams from academic and administrative areas as well as external consultants and vendors to ensure IT projects meet University goals and are delivered on time and within budget. The IT Project Manager assists the University’s technical and functional teams in the coordination of projects, meetings, and tasks across the entire portfolio of IT projects. Responsibilities include: managing project intake, scope, objectives, and approvals; convening regular project review meetings and documenting project decisions, risks, tasks, and costs; scheduling of functional and technical resources for projects; communicating project progress and issues with the project teams and campus leadership; maintaining the IT project portfolio in the University’s project management system; and producing regular reports to stakeholders and University leaders regarding project status, risks, and any required escalation or remediation.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge of project management principles and/or business analysis (or equivalent experience). Able to manage large meetings with diverse stakeholders, both in-person and online, and help the group arrive at a consensus regarding project objectives, requirements, timelines, resources, and risks. Able to read and produce reports and updates across a wide range of projects and for various stakeholders across the organization. Able to clearly present project status, risks, and action items to project stakeholders and executive sponsors. Able and willing to take detailed meeting notes and use them to update projects in the University’s project management system. Proficient in Office365 and a project management platform (e.g., BaseCamp, Jira, MS Project, or ServiceNow). Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of business processes and business systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, BI, etc.). Three to five years experience managing large, complex projects. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business.
