General Description of Position:
The Assistant Vice President for the School of Information Technology Sector provides professional leadership in the development of quality standards and consistency in academic courses, training, and other programs to serve the information technology sector. The Assistant Vice President works closely with the Senior Vice President of Workforce, the Executive in Residence, he Provost/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, sector Vice Presidents, campus academic officers, applicable Ivy Tech Curriculum Committees, Vice President and team of Career Coaching and Employer Connections to ensure the College is providing the level of courses and service appropriate to the communities Ivy Tech Community College serves. The Assistant Vice President will utilize voice-of-the-customer and demand-driven data, along with insights of the Executive in Residence, to develop strategies and execute plans. The Assistant Vice President will assist and represent the Senior Vice President of Workforce in establishing strategic linkages with employers and associations related to the economic sectors that can benefit from the College’s mission to enhance the educational achievement of Hoosiers.
Major Responsibilities:
Assure curricula and training are meeting the needs of employers and supporting the advancement of the information technology sector of the state.
Assure assigned programs and curricula comply with academic policies and lead program accreditation initiatives.
Collaborate with the Executive in Residence and other leaders to guide strategy for the School of IT to reflect and align with the rapid exponential growth of Information Technology.
Provide technology insights to Sector VPs and college leadership where IT is causing disruption in other sectors.
Strive to understand the integral role the College as a Thought Leader in the tech ecosystem.
Lead development of applicable new program proposals and credential offerings.
Work cooperatively with academic affairs initiatives applicable for the assigned programs.
Network and collaborate with senior management from employers that are known to set industry demand and trends; are influential statewide, nationwide, or globally; or who employ a significant workforce.
Present to industry groups, leaders, etc. information about Ivy Tech programs, capabilities, and resources within the sector.
Stay current with industry trends, employment projections, and demand-driven data to make recommendations for future academic programs, training, and certifications appropriate to embed in existing offerings or develop new offerings.
Provide and/or facilitate opportunities and mechanisms for chancellors, campus presidents, faculty, workforce development consultants, and development officers to meet with industry practitioners.
Study workforce, enrollment, retention, completion, success, and other student data and make recommendations to appropriate senior leadership based on the analysis.
Provide leadership and represent the workforce alignment and academic offices to the applicable Ivy Tech curriculum committees and workforce development team; direct change and implement policy as related to the program curriculum and workforce committees; meet with these and related committees as appropriate.
Direct statewide inventories and make recommendations for equipment acquisitions to assure quality program outcomes and promote efficiency.
Review sites/locations, ensuring they are adequate and appropriate for offerings to the economic sector.
Work with Career Coaching and Employer Connections team to facilitate opportunities for students, internships/externships, etc.
Work with Human Resources on strategies to recruit diverse and qualified faculty.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Direct reporting to Sr. Vice President of Workforce, indirect reporting to the Executive in Residence and Sr. Vice President/Provost.
SUPERVISION GIVEN: Professional staff assigned to functional responsibilities and dotted line support to campus School of IT Deans.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree required in information technology, career and technical education, workforce development, strategic management, human resources, or related field.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience required in information technology, industry, training, educational administration, teaching at the post-secondary level, or related field.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required.
Must have the ability to work as a team member and also be self directed and able to work at own initiative.
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.
Must be able and willing to travel.
