invites applications for a
Videographer
Reporting to the Videographer Manager and working in close collaboration with the Athletics Department, the Videographer will primarily focus on creating video assets for Athletics. This position will serve as a lead videographer for the University of Montana (UM) and as a post-production editor to create cinema quality storytelling videos, commercials and web content that highlights the university.
The person assigned to this role is responsible for operating cinema cameras, advanced audio, lighting equipment and editing. Strong pre-production and editing experience are a must.
The individual in this position works closely and collaborates with colleagues to promote and adhere to UM’s branded elements in order to reinforce consistent tone and storytelling across the university's channels.
Responsibilities:
Edits video, content using Adobe Creative Suite software.
Has a keen ear for music, soundtracks, sound effects and their role in video storytelling.
Produces storytelling video content & supports every facet of video production.
Archives and/or pulls clips from video database/servers/hard drives.
Helps source, curate, create, edit, and manage video publishing on social platforms.
Works remotely and independently on production as needed.
Archives content using workflow protocols.
Ensures technical specs compliment creative elements.
Interacts with departments, clients and subjects directly or via written or interpersonal communication.
Maintains a current understanding of the updates on video creation, video storytelling, documentary style commercials and cinematography.
Utilizes discretion and good judgment in representing the university while interfacing with clients, subjects and the greater university/Missoula community.

Required Skills
The ability to edit and capture high-quality video with cinema cameras.
Proficiency in a range of video-related software, including but not limited to, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
Advanced knowledge of web video distribution for social media platforms. With a focus on Instagram. Reels are a plus.
Experience with distributing web video across social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Must be team-oriented and have experience working in mission or research-driven institutions - namely higher-education.
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment within a group setting.
Strong communication and organization skills, including research, writing, fact-checking, and proofreading skills, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment and collaborate effectively as a team member on deadlines.
Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
Self-motivated and work effectively under deadline pressure while coordinating multiple tasks
This position is event driven, must be able to work an alternative work schedule which will include some nights and weekends.
Minimum Required Experience
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in journalism, film, cinematography or related fields.
Minimum two (2) years of experience working in film/video production
Preferred Qualifications
Current and historical knowledge (and interest) in western Montana and Missoula is a plus.
Drone experience with a FAA Part 107 license to fly drones commercially.
Can tolerate various weather conditions
