The Site IT Operations Lead – DW GOM is responsible for all IDSO Services and products delivered to the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) for the Deepwater Line of Business, a growing part of the Upstream portfolio. Partnering with colleagues to provide the best possible user experience to end users, this is an opportunity to play a part in taking Site Management into IT operations of the future, applying data and insights to deliver world class services.

IT specialists are vital to how we leverage and deliver global digital solutions. You are going to be a key part of the PT-UP-IG-RES Service & Operations Management (SOM) team. This team delivers secure, reliable and affordable E2E IT operations to the Projects & Technology, Upstream, Integrated Gas and Renewables & Energy Solutions and businesses. As IT professionals with a business lens our focus is to unlock value and accelerate Shell’s journey in energy transition.
What’s the role?
The Site IT Operations lead is end-2-end responsible for all IDSO delivered services and products for the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) across various lines of businesses, locations, data centers and offshore operations.
Manage relationship with the local IT Managers for the GOM for the IDSO services and products, ensuring demand and new and/or changing requirements are identified. Calling in the help of domain expertise to outline the solution that responds to new or changed business requirements. Reporting the services demand forecast and the new and/or changing requirements.
Manage the IT operating plan, budget and operational lifecycle of IDSO services and products in scope.
Lead or member of a natural team for all IDSO delivered services and products including IT operations, project delivery, Field Telecoms, PCD, applications, technical user support and cyber security
Review landscapes and products for enhancement and continuous improvement opportunities.
Responsible for information risk management (IRM) and IT Controls compliance, as well as conformance to Health and Safety policies and legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the identification of systemic issues in IT Landscapes, driving structural improvements while balancing costs with business value; supporting Service Operations Management (SOM) in optimizing landscape Total Cost of Ownership.
Responsible for Operational Readiness for new demand, changes and projects impacting the portfolio – including analyzing and understanding business functional and non-functional requirements.
Ensure effective Major Incident (MI) management and swift service restoration (during Major Incidents) for IDSO services and products.
Support or Serve as the IDT Representative on Emergency Response Teams, (e.g. Incident Management Team, Crisis Management Team).
Responsible for bottom-up budgeting of IT services, mapping top-down figures to existing services, and monitors spend against budget, seek adherence to the budget as planned, assist in developing LE per quarter. Works closely with Validation-to-Pay and local finance teams to ensure prompt payment of invoices. May be responsible for one or more contracts including developing the contract, technical evaluation, contracts performance evaluation & renewal/closure of contracts.
Ensuring adequate business controls are in place across the processes used in support of the site service delivery including controlling of the contract expenditure.
Build on the On-Site Services site hosts capabilities in the various locations to assure the monitoring and reporting on the performance and quality of services delivery. Assuring services are delivered according to SLA based on input from site hosts and escalating serious service incidents that threaten business continuity to relevant teams. The SOL manages infrastructure incidents/situations that threaten business continuity and manages the overall experience of users with service delivery.
Champions and actively coordinates the adaptation of IT operational standards, delivery models, processes, site assurance and integrity.
Accountable for all HSSE activities at site with Staff and Contractors
Member of the IT Disaster Response Management Team, Crisis Management Team & Emergency Response Team
What we need from you?
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or Business or equivalent years of work experience.
Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in IT with IT leadership experience.
Proven experience in a multi-disciplined IT environment with strong background in IT operational service delivery, service management and contract management.
Experience with Data Center environment (infrastructure, security, services)
Experience in budget management and application of financial procedures and controls
Experience in remote Offshore services, IT infrastructure projects as, office consolidations & decommissions, Offshore IT infrastructure deployments.
Build and lead IT natural teams, including multiple third- parties, aligned around driving greater business value.
Support delivery of IT projects through active participation in project teams
Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
A continuous improvement mindset to drive operations of the future.
Proven customer focus and empathy.
Ability to work outside of regular working hours as required to support IT Incidents, Emergency Response and the GOM Incident Command Team.
Ability to build strong collaborative partnerships with business stakeholders.
Resilience, courage and the willingness to challenge and manage business expectations.
Office based position is in New Orleans at the Hancock Whitney Center.
