Best Buy’ Infrastructure team is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer II to assist in the management of a multi-origin, zero-downtime, highly scalable Cloud infrastructure. Build, scale and secure Best Buy infrastructure, focusing specifically on a fully automated Linux environment.

Reporting to the Cloud & Platform Senior Manager, the Cloud Engineer will work with on a team, utilizing agile methodologies. The ideal candidate is innovative, autonomous, flexible, and willing to be a part of a team of Engineers that keeps our infrastructure running seamlessly & consistently from test to production.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop and improve automation and tools for systems management, including development of scripts for the company’s full automated environment with Opscode Chef

Develop operational practice for technologies including Opscode Chef, multiple private and Public Cloud platforms, JBoss, Tomcat, NodeJS, Apache, Sensu, Splunk, Memcached, Message Queuing systems, Graphite, and Solr

Perform zero downtime deployments across multiple globally distributed origins

Build solutions from scratch using leading open-sourced methodologies and building quality solutions that may be open-sourced such as Opscode Chef cookbooks, via the Apache 2.0 license

Participate in a L2-L-3 rotating on-call schedule once every 8 weeks (estimated)

Minimum Qualifications

2 or more years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience without a bachelor’s degree

2 or more yeas’ experience in Linux systems administration

1 or more years of programming with Ruby, Python, Perl, or PHP

1 or more years of experience with configuration management and automation tools such as: Ansible, Chef, and Puppet

Preferred Qualifications:

AWS Certification

1 or more years of Cloud automation

1 or more years of experience configuring, optimizing, and supporting Tomcat or a similar Java application server

1 or more years ‘experience with Apache Web Server

1 or more years’ experience using continuous integration and configuration management tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Subversion, Git, Ant, or Maven

Working experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) capabilities such as EC2, EBS, ELB/ALB, Security Groups, S3, ElasticIP, Route 53, IAM, Gateways, VPCs, CloudWatch, Lambda scripts, etc.

Working experience with Cloud Service Providers such as Azure, IBM SoftLayer or Google a plus

Experience with NoSQL Databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB

Splunk and/or ElasticSearch administration experience
