Job Description:

What's the Role:

The Delivery Architect is accountable for delivering solutions from design to delivery leading the technical team within a product. These solutions need to be fit for purpose within the portfolio, have technical integrity, the right TCO (total cost of ownership) through its life cycle and a good fit with the digital technology direction of Shell.

Responsibilities:

Recruit and lead a team of developers to deliver a product that support the renewables and energy solutions business Establish, document, and maintain sound software architecture Liaise with business stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met Foster a culture of excellence within your team Provide coaching to junior team members Be the technical leader of the product team adopting a hands-on approach where needed Set technical agenda for the digital product with business Product Owner and Product Manager Ensure quality of product delivery through ongoing code-reviews and disciplined team ways of working including technical documentation of the products Conform to Shell’s architecture guidelines and standards ensuring any deviations are suitably challenged and tracked in an appropriate manner Ensure compliance to the Shell Control framework and ensure security and compliance risks are mitigated, tracked and addressed in a timely manner

What We need From You:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Applicants must have at least 5 years’ experience in roles where they held similar accountabilities

It’s your excellent influencing and communication skills that will really make the difference, and given the current stage of the business, entrepreneurship and resilience will be required, to help drive and shape the business and technology strategy. You will need technical, operational, and commercial breadth to deliver a strategic technical vision alongside a robust, secure, and cost-effective delivery platform and operational model.

Experience and competence in the following areas:

Architecture of cloud services and solution design in AWS in compute (e.g., EKS, Lambda, EC2), storage (e.g., RDS, S3, Redshift), integration (e.g., API gateway, MSK, Kinesis), Monitoring, Orchestration (e.g., MWAA, Glue), Device connectivity (IoT core), and understanding of scenarios where cloud-agnostic is preferable

Understanding of compute and runtime environments e.g., containers including deployment and orchestration in Kubernetes and Docker, Serverless compute

Relational SQL and NoSQL databases including Postgres and Document stores e.g., MongoDB, and Graph databases e.g., Neo4J, Neptune

API design and specification including GraphQL, RESTful APIs, Pub-Sub

Data Integration patterns including Transactional, Analytical, Virtualization, Streaming, Data engineering pipelines

Security Architecture including Identity and Access management, Network Security, Encryption

Working knowledge of different programming languages and their suitability to use-cases including Python, NodeJS, Go, JavaScript/Typescript

Working Knowledge of version control and CI/CD systems including GitHub, GitOps (e.g., GitHub Actions, Argo CD), Test-driven development

Working Knowledge of Data Science and application of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence paradigms

Working knowledge of Monitoring, Logging, Observability; Service and Operations concerns

Experience in Power domain including Asset data collection, Microgrids, Virtual power plants, B2B/B2C energy retail is desired

Aware of Architecture frameworks, principles, policies, standards, and governance processes (or related like TOGAF).

Experience in Agile delivery frameworks and principles e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe

Strong interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written. Good storytelling capabilities, ability to drive change using influence and networking.

Delivery focused with doer/hands-on attitude

Self-starter that can work independently with projects and stakeholders

Organized and methodical. Ability to initiate, plan and develop according to plan though coping with a level of uncertainty and risk.

Keen to stay up to date with key developments in IT and external trend-sensing

Capability to define the end-to-end architecture and work closely with the development team for helping implement the architecture vision
