Description

The Director of Project Management Center of Excellence (PM COE) is in Humana's Information Technology (IT) organization, and is responsible for defining the practices that merge traditional PM techniques with agile ways of working to enable effective execution of technology initiatives. The right candidate will demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit as they build an ecosystem of resources and support for IT's PM community. The director will also be a thought leader and strategic advisor, developing the strategies for how we transition our project and program management practices to fit the Agile methodologies for IT delivery where applicable.

Responsibilities

Come join our team in this exciting new role! Humana's IT organization is undergoing a multi-year transformation journey to develop a cloud-based and platform-centric technology ecosystem. Critical to this transformation is our transition to agile ways of working. As the Director of the IT Project Management Center of Excellence , you will work cross-functionally across IT to optimize the practices of project and program management, impacting the delivery of enterprise-wide technology initiatives. You will establish the new COE that will provide standards and support to project management offices and individual project managers across the IT organization, and connect them to Agile delivery methodologies. In addition, you will have responsibilities to create consistency in work tools and practices, promote ongoing competency development, guide career pathing, and measure effectiveness of our delivery.

Duties include:

Develop a continuum of practices, tools, and standards that may be applied to technology initiatives according to their work team's journey in adopting Agile methodologies

Assemble and lead forums for project and program management practitioners across IT to continuously learn through experiences, training programs, and from one another

Act as a consultant to Project Management Office and Application Development leaders in coaching their teams around the adoption of 'best practice' work standards and tools, and other matters that relate to supporting the work teams' success

Collaborate with the Agile Team in defining the best path for transitioning traditional project management practices to support Agile software development approaches

Build a set of metrics and monitoring capabilities around the IT project portfolio's health, risk and execution effectiveness

Develop approaches for how the organization oversees the interdependencies and integration of interrelated initiatives, and set guidance on how work teams may measure business value

Lead a small team of portfolio and/or program managers who lead the execution of IT-wide initiatives

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology or a related field

Demonstrated experience in technology product implementation or project / program management

Background in working with Agile software development teams or in implementing Agile methodologies

Experience in operating as an internal or external consultant

Possesses specialized knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) frameworks used to manage risks and issues unique to technology projects

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration

Longevity working in data warehouse, decision support and reporting system environments

Working knowledge of project and program management systems, especially ServiceNow

Comprehensive knowledge of development languages, tools, and utilities, including Cobol, CICS, DB2, ASP, COM, .Net and SQL

Six Sigma and/or Project Management Institute certification

Experience in the health solutions industry
