Team Landscape:

As a Software Engineer 2 - Java Backend, you have a unique opportunity to contribute and work with some of the best in the software field while you improve health outcomes of every person. Our team is building new greenfield applications and modernizing some of the existing applications to the latest industry standards and best practices. We started this journey 2 years ago and have made a lot of new developments to our tech stack, which would be comparable to any modern technology company. Our company provides the stability of a large company, while giving a startup-like environment where you own your technology choices and decisions.

Responsibilities

Technology Landscape:

All development is geared to cloud deployments. Our group primarily uses Azure, Springboot Microservices, NodeJS, .Net, Java, Kotlin, ReactJS, Redis, SQL, MongoDB, and Adobe Experience Manager to build intuitive and real-time user experiences, which allow our members to have easier access to healthcare services.

The Software Engineer 2 codes software applications based on business requirements. The Software Engineer 2 work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The Software Engineer 2:

Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software.

Oversees testing and debugging and develops fixes.

Researches complaints and makes necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues.

Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas.

Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed.

Follows established guidelines/procedures.

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

3-5 years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development

Strong experience with and knowledge of cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP

Strong experience with and knowledge of back-end, including Java, .NET, and/or NodeJS

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Experience with Adobe Experience Manager

Experience with Springboot Microservices

Experience with Kotlin and/or React JS

Experience with Redis, SQL, and/or MongoDB

Vaccine Policy

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.

Work at Home Guidance

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
