What’s the role?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a team responsible for IT Support of Shell’s industry leading WellVantage technology. Shell uses WellVantage, a set of innovative drilling technologies that combine real-time data, remote operations, and drilling automation which help to improve safety, increase operational efficiency, and control the costs associated with drilling. These modular systems are based on Kongsberg Digital (KDI) software and hosted in AWS and with additional Shell Proprietary applications for Analytics and Advanced calculations. The key components are:

Shell WellVantage Real-time Connect, Modelling and Optimization, AIOps Automation Platform

The purpose of the IT Ops Engineer-Wells Support is to provide 2nd line IT Support for the WellVantage Technical Landscape (Infrastructure, Applications and Data) ensuring 24*7 seamless service delivery. In addition, Analysts will work on a range of service development and project activities.

In this role you will be required to work based in Houston as part of a Global 24*7 team. You will be providing proactive and reactive IT support to Shell’s Global Drilling Rig fleet.

You will follow established ITIL processes and procedures (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and deliver services in accordance with SLA Targets.

In your role you will be required to work across a multidiscipline support organization, bringing together the various parties to resolve issues as quickly as possible minimizing business impact.

You will be required to participate in the out of hours on call Rota and work in compliance with information security policies and procedures.

You must be highly motivated with good communication skills with proven ability to work within a team environment and ability to work unsupervised.

Assure all technical work is delivered to high standards following WellVantage build & deployment cookbooks and SOPs (standard operating procedures).

Adheres to the company’s management process for the resolution of problems and assigned to the WellVantage team. Coordinates all work assigned to the team queues.

Adheres to the Company change management process in the communication and coordination of changes that impact any Company production computing systems.

Develop and implement processes as required to ensure that work is delivered to high standards and review quality assurance processes to enhance performance.

Track performance through measuring business performance and the achievement of Wells IT objectives and goals.

Must be committed to continuous improvement of wells IT capabilities by challenging Wells IT operational concepts and processes.

What we need from you?

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

Minimum five (5) years experience in a Global IT Role supporting a broad range of IT Infrastructure, Applications and Data Services with Oil and Gas or related companies

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Extensive Hands-on in supporting Wells Drilling Applications (i.e., Insite, Sitecom-Discovery Web, Openwire-OpenWorks, Petrolink)

Strong Understanding of Drilling and Wells Completions Operations in Upstream Drilling Industry

Experience of working in Agile Framework, DevOps, Project Management to be able deliver on Projects

Have experience working Drilling Service Provider (Baker, Schlumberger, Halliburton, NOV)

Detailed knowledge of Drilling Data Transmission Standard like WITS, WITSML, OPC

Experience in installation and support of a broad range of IT Infrastructure Components and Applications. Relevant Technologies experience: Drilling Real-Time Application, Windows Active Directory, Windows Server, Cisco Routers, Switches and VLANs, VSAT, Windows Client/Server, Firewall, Cabling and connectivity

ITIL Based Service Management tool like Service Now, Jira, BMC Remedy working Experience (Incident, Change, Knowledge

To be able to work in Shift if needed and also weekend On-Call

Good stakeholder management and ability to work in complex relationship between Shell, business, suppliers, and infrastructure partners

Team player, works effectively and communicates well with all levels of organization (business and IT)
