Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to manage our DateBee Data Platform Engineering team. DataBee is a security data fabric that organizes security data into a single trusted source, enriched with business context, to allow security teams to make smart decisions fast. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our data platform infrastructure, including data ingest, transformation, storage, processing, and analytics. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that our data platform is scalable, reliable, secure, cost-effective, and that it meets the needs of our business. This role sits within the Technology, Product, and eXperience (TPX) unit of Comcast - the home for thousands of engineers building products and services which connect millions of people to the moments that matter. The role will report to the Vice President of Engineering for DataBee. The ideal candidate will focus not just on building awesome products, but on building an open and transparent culture that thrives on feedback.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Lead and manage teams of onshore and offshore data platform engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for the data platform.

Develop and maintain the data platform infrastructure, ensuring that it is scalable, reliable, cost effective, fit-for-purpose, and secure.

Identify opportunities for improvement in the data platform and implement solutions to address them.

Work with other teams within the organization, such as data science, analytics, and visualization, to ensure that the data platform meets their needs.

Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for the data platform.

Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data platform engineering, and make recommendations for their adoption as appropriate.

Reviews and presents operating and capital budgets including forecasts of operations, development, testing and any specialized needs to senior management.

Oversees operations and ensures business strategies and objectives are being met in a structured and concise manner. Delivers strategies and objectives within the department and across the organization.

Evaluates overall work processes and standard procedures to ensure performance is to company and industry standards.

Continuously develops staff through ongoing training programs, operational procedures and policies and develops staff organizational and technical skills etc.

Sets the reporting standards and then works with the Manager of Engineering to analyze reports for such issues as schedule completions for testing, spend levels for NRE costs, yearly license costs etc.

Stays knowledgeable of competition and important emerging technologies and standards.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

Experience leading and managing onshore and offshore data platform engineers.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.

Experience, knowledge, and/or familiarity with the following. Please note that we do not expect the ideal candidate to have experience with all of these technologies - but be familiar with these subjects to the degree required to lead expert team members

Data storage technologies, such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, and object stores.

DevOps: GitHub Actions, Llamda, Kubernetes, Go, Python, Teraform

Data Lakes/Warehouses: including large unstructured data sets with large data lakes (eg. SnowFlake, DataBricks, AWS Red Shift, Athena).

Cloud Data Table (Parquet) Formats: Iceberg, Delta, and/or Houdi

Cloud Data Management: S3, Glacier, Glue Catalog, and/or Azure Blob

Data Processing/Transformations: Vector (VRL), Kafka, Apache Spark, and or general ETL applications & approaches

Observability / Monitoring: Data Dog, BetterStack (Logtail), Proetheus, and/or New Relic

Data analytics tools and platforms, such as Tableau, Looker, and Power BI.

Salary:

Pay Range: $213,594.47 - $320,391.70

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
