Where you fit in
We play an important role in defining the future of energy, by building the Upstream assets that deliver material cash flows, the Downstream assets where Shell produces advanced, low-carbon products, and the Integrated Gas, Renewables and Energy Solutions assets that deliver the energy that powers lives and livelihoods.
Projects and Technology supports Shell’s operated and non-operated assets, safely improving performance and raising the bar being a responsible operator. We use our technical, commercial, and digital skills to competitively optimise production and we replicate technologies across the portfolio. Projects and Technology also has a role to play making our assets top quartile on emissions intensity.
What’s the role?
The IT Data Analyst will work with the IT Manager Shell Polymers to help the Shell Polymers business get more value from digital and data by upskilling the employees of both the asset team as well as the commercial team through DIY initiatives. DIY brings the digital experience into the workplace of people in a very personal way. DIY motivates staff to do more with data, e.g., by automating workflows and by creating actionable insights. Data is the foundation for digital transformation. Shell Polymers is a new, integrated business in Shell consisting of a new world class asset in Monaca, PA and a commercial team based in Houston. The business has two primary strategic themes in which data is a key enabler. First, Shell Polymers is extremely customer centric (“Making the Experience Matter”) and will win in the marketplace by delivering an industry leading customer experience. Second, the asset in Monaca and the commercial team in Houston must operate as a fully integrated business and are leading the charge in integrating commercial or asset data.
Accountabilities include:
First port of call for DIY developers to support them through the E2E process of creating & deploying successful and secure DIY Products.
Coach DIY developers and help them to master the new tools, standards and best practices. You help the DIY developers to mature their ideas and help them structure their DIY products.
Build and cultivate a local DIY community, whose ideas will generate great value though process automation and actionable insights. You organize upskilling sessions and stimulate the DIY developers to learn from each other, including from colleagues based at other C P sites and stimulate creative ‘outside the box’ thinking.
Build up strong relationships with all departments at site and help your stakeholders get more appreciation for the untapped potential of DIY.
Linking pin between local business and the central DIY IT teams, as well as the data coaches supporting other assets across the globe.
Actively roll up your sleeves and build a great PowerApp or flashy dashboard – as a true role model for the DIY community.
Support data centric projects going on in the Polymers portfolio.
What we need from you?
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum five (5) years relevant work experience in IT Data and Analytics.
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
Must have an IT background or an Asset background with strongly developed IT skills.
Previous experience in data centric IT initiatives is a plus.
Able to demonstrate great skill and experience with the Power Suite of Microsoft (PowerApps, PowerBI, PowerAutomate, Flow), preferably also with Alteryx and SQL.
Able to have an excellent communication skill and coaching skills to work with people.
Must understand the Business processes at an asset or a commercial business.
Curious and eager to learn about the business processes, which generate the data used in the DIY products.
Must have a commercial mindset and recognize that DIY is a means to an end – i.e., value generation.
Able to support several activities in parallel and able to keep the oversight.
