HCS Application Systems Analyst for Research – IT Analytics

 

The Application Systems Analyst is a key contributor supporting

Research Application functions.  Works with enterprise wide business

and IT management to understand and prioritize requirements.  Solves

technical problems.  Builds, tests, and maintains research functions

in Epic.  Works under limited supervision.

 

Duties

Provides a high level of

technical support (development, testing, integration and implementation)

of applications and interfaces which deliver IT tools and support business

functions across the health system.Build, test, and maintain

solutions which support research and work in a highly integrated fashion

with other Epic teams including Registration and Scheduling, Hospital

Billing, Professional Billing, Ambulatory and Inpatient Clinical teams and

Health Information Management to ensure that changes align across

integrated applications. Participate in planning for

upgrades, patches, revisions and build and implement required changes

efficiently. Collaborate with

university-side IT teams to resolve issues involving research systems

(IRB, CTMS) interfaced to Epic.Develops and maintains clear,

understandable documentation to describe program development and

modification, as well as the troubleshooting process. Updates system and

support documentation as necessary to reflect changes to programs,

solutions, reports and interfaces.Updates management, customers

and others as appropriate on a timely basis regarding progress on assigned

tasks, projects and issues, via written or oral reports.Assists other IT teams with

selection and provides technical evaluation of products / tools to ensure

that the proposed solution adheres to enterprise-wide requirements, adapts

to new requirements and changing technologies in order to meet business

standardization protocols and objectives.Partners with billing teams to

support system level Integrated Billing office with research issues.Functions as a technical

consultant to the health system and maintains high service levels.

Participates in system wide initiatives to improve efficiency and reach

institutional goals and objectives.Coordinates small-scale

projects Participates in a 24/7 on-call

rotation for supporting assigned applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Licensure:

Certification in Epic Research

Clinical or Epic Research Billing preferred OR certification within

onboarding training period post employer-sponsored onsite Epic training.Certification in Epic MyChart

or EpicCare Ambulatory preferred. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

Academic research best

practices and regulatory guidelines.Experience with Epic Hospital

Billing or Professional Billing applications and knowledge of business

operations of hospital billing or professional billing departments

desirable. Experience with clinical trials

or other biomedical research in a hospital setting desirable. Experience with end user

training a plus.

 

General Skills:

end-user training and support.Project management skills and

demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s

degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field (or

equivalent combination of education, training and experience).

Licensure/Certification

Requirements:

No

licensure or certification required.

 

Professional Experience

Requirements:

If a

Bachelor's degree: Two (2) years of direct experience.

If an

Associate's degree: Six (6) years of direct experience.

If a High

School diploma or GED: Ten (10) years of direct experience.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and

Abilities Requirements:

Excellent

analytical and communication skills. Ability to work well in a team

environment. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks

simultaneously. Highly responsive to internal customers.
