Description

We are seeking a thought leader, creative problem solver, and experienced technologist to serve as the Lead Solutions Architect for the Product and Actuarial domains within Medicare IT. The applications in this domain support the Medicare & Medicaid product definition (authoring), Product data provisioning and dissemination, Bid Filing & Pricing, and the end-to-end submission process with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These functions are at the heart of Humana's strategy for the Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Medicaid business and to fulfilling the company mission to help its members achieve lifelong wellbeing.

Responsibilities

The Lead Solutions Architect works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial. The Lead Solutions Architect translates business needs into technical systems solutions. Integrates hardware, software and network to develop holistic technology platforms that achieve business objectives. Advises executives to develop functional strategies on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of multiple factors and determining the best course of action.

The Lead Solutions Architect partners with Business, Development, and Architecture teams to develop solutions that balance capability, time, cost and complexity. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of technologies, including cloud-native green field applications, legacy platforms, and SQL/RDMS-centric actuarial tools and processes. Some of the technologies you will encounter in this role include Angular, Mongo/Cosmos DB, Kafka, StreamSets, SQL Server, Oracle, .NET Core, Excel-based Actuarial Models, SSIS, and more. A key responsibility of the Lead Application Architect is to help drive the modernization and evolution of the Product and Actuarial technology platforms to position them in support of Humana's growth strategy and customer-focused goals.

The ideal candidate has a passion for data as a core asset, the skillset and desire to craft solutions that apply leading technology to real-world business problems, and excellent communication and teamwork. The solution architect will be a key partner for the business leaders they support, ensuring their technology recommendations address business priorities while also adhering to IT best practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

8 years of progressive information technology experience directly related to architecture/engineering, development, or related technology fields

Ability to build strong relationships with business partners, including communicating complex technology concepts to non-technical audiences

Passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Experience with at least one public cloud ecosystem, preferably experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform

Skilled in Data Management topics and able to craft solutions that support the data-centric nature of the Product and Actuary domains

Comfortable with both No-SQL (document-oriented) database solutions as well as RDMS platforms - understands how, when and why to apply each

Demonstrated experience as a Domain/Solution Architect or Application Architect

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Demonstrated experience and/or certification with Azure cloud platform

Experience with Actuary/Data Science tools and languages - Python, R, ML/AI, SAS

SQL Server expertise

Familiarity with Actuarial processes

Healthcare and/or health insurance experience

Experience with Product authoring & mastering
