Job Description:
The shale industry has mostly focused on incremental improvements to reduce costs. In late 2016, Shell initiated iShaleTM to explore a vision for the shale field of the future with several suppliers and partners. This field of the future would increase production while delivering significant decreases in costs and safety risks. It would enable quicker decision making and more efficient asset operations. It would also offer environmental benefits in the form of greater energy efficiency and reduced operational footprint.
What is iShale?
iShaleTM leverages recent advances in automation, digitalization and advanced analytics to enhance well productivity. We are investigating intelligent pads & smart field operations, and the utilization of standardized modular facilities. iShaleTM also signals a shift towards more analysis of data across our workforce, from headquarters to operations.
In short, iShaleTM identifies ways to deliver a technological step change by leveraging innovation and synergies across the field life cycle. This includes:
Increasing automation in drilling and frac operations to reduce human exposure and increase safety.
Building fit-for-purpose facilities that can be scaled with production needs.
Constructing ‘Smart’ wells with onsite wireless instruments for better monitoring.
Putting in place surveillance that is driven by ‘exceptions’ to standard conditions for efficient operations.
Establishing central operating centers for production data analysis and cross-portfolio learnings.
Building a fluid ‘organization of the future’ enabled by a digitally connected and broadly skilled workforce.
Business Context:
iShale is a programme to deliver a step-change in the way we operate in Unconventionals. We will do this by leveraging technology advances in automation, digitalization and advanced analytics to implement state of the art technologies in the UNC business. The shale industry is moving towards greater digital ways of working and leveraging these technologies allows us to close our gap to potential and compete in the highlight competitive North American shale industry. Our goal is a 40% reduction in the UNC unit technical cost (UTC) by 2020.
IPSO (Intelligent Pads and Smart Operations) workstream within the iShale programme has a vision to leverage technology in production operations to modify and simplify ways of working and enhance how we maximize value in a safe manner. In this space, we are working in agile ways to de-risk and deploy technologies focused at improving ways of working at the assets such as the development of the PULSE application, integration of commercial of the shell advanced analytics solutions, remote surveillance, connected mobile worker, multi skilled worker and fluid supplier operating models.
We currently have an opportunity within the team for a Application Delivery Lead for PULSE product. We are seeking a self-motivated, dynamic individual with a flair for a fast-paced environment. This is an opportunity to own and bring to life new features within the PULSE application that have meaningful impact to our business. You have the chance to work on a product that is on the front line of innovation with focus on leading the design, development and implementation of the PULSE product that drives immediate business value.
Job Purpose and Accountabilities
The Application Delivery Lead acts as the product Design Lead and interfaces with senior business and IT leaders to discuss business requirements, suggest use cases, evaluate and recommend fit for purpose solutions and ensure delivery from the team meets required business expectations.
Create and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and backlog of work regularly throughout the project's life cycle
Interface with the business to understand the requirements, suggest value add use cases and work with the technical team to convert them to technical features and user stories
Apply design thinking principles to be able to come up with high user experience through solution delivery
Deliver and execute holistic vision of the service or products to meet business goals and end users’ needs to ensure achievement of the objectives described in the business case
Direct Product Design team members on all user centered design (UCD) activities, ensuring inputs and outputs are aligned
Collaborate with the Product Owner to translate the expectations and preferences of the end users into Features and User Stories and prioritize these based on their business value and risks
Communicate with the business users and stakeholders on a regular basis to provide feedback on progress of the implementation of the scope and keep a check on business priority
Represent the end users to explain/clarify the requirements to the team and provide feedback on the stories developed
Collaborate with the Project Manager to coordinate project schedules, budgets, and staffing
Coordinate and work along with the pilot business users during UAT as part of change enablement process

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's Degree related to Information Technology and Engineering required.
Minimum ten (10 ) years' experience delivering projects using Agile Methodology preferably in the space of Analytics / Advanced Analytics / Artificial Intelligence / IOT.
Solid experience in Upstream Operations and business processes required, specific focus on event management in Fields is a big plus.
Understands the evolving digital landscape within Shell and across the industry.
Leadership skills and a good knowledge of business analysis.
Knowledge of Design Thinking approach and principles.
Knows organization’s policy framework, management structures and reporting procedures, and can see the “big picture”.
Good communication, presentation and senior stakeholder management skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience in communicating with senior stakeholders.
Has knowledge of risk and issue management.
Practical understanding of the latest Analytics and data science technologies preferred.
UI / UX design experience for data intensive and transaction-oriented applications is a plus.
