SUMMARY
Bering Straits Information Technology (BSIT), LLC a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is looking for a System Administrator - Linux Subject Matter Expert to support Headquarters (HQ) United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) located at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. USPACOM is one of six geographic Unified Combatant Commands. The USPACOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) encompasses about half the earth's surface, stretching from the waters off the west coast of the U.S. to the western border of India, and from Antarctica to the North Pole. USPACOM J6 (Command, Control, Communications & Cyber (C4) Directorate) provides the communications and IT services to critical for the PACOM Commander to Command and Control (C2) forces across the theater. This must not fail mission depends on highly secure & reliable voice, data, and video communications. USPACOM operates the Common Computing Environment (CCE) surrounded by a network defense infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an experienced
System Administrator - Linux Subject Matter Expert
who will take on the communication & IT services. This support includes performing day-to-day system administration services and responsibilities for supporting information technology disciplines and practices to ensure the operations, confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets in accordance with established standards and procedures. We will work closely with information owners, HQ PACOM Directorates, Systems Staff, Network Staff and Cybersecurity staff to ensure system/application operations and security is achieved, maintained and reported accurately for HQ USPACOM networks. Responsible to maintain, install, update, to include patching, and secure operating systems and applications for all current and additional assigned systems and applications within USPACOM. Responsible for patching of systems and applications. Maintain the security posture and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, in accordance with DoD and PACOM requirements, of all assigned systems and applications. Analyze processes, assigned systems and applications and make recommendations for improvements and automation. d) Ensure all Linux/UNIX systems and applications are compliant with DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) requirements. Refer to current DoD and PACOM directives and policies to maintain and update Kickstart deployment files (classified/unclassified) for automated secure installations of mission critical Red Hat Enterprise Linux Systems. Create and maintain custom scripts. Ensure that all Linux/Unix systems are included in the USPACOM Host Base Security System (HBSS) architecture and that all required HBSS components are installed and configured correctly. Participate in technical exchange meetings, work groups, and workshops as required and make recommendations to the Government. Responsible for backup/restore Linux/UNIX systems and applications in accordance with DoD and USPACOM polices. l) Ensure adequate support is available during command exercises and command inspections. Responsible for testing and executing the Linux/UNIX Continuity of Operations (COOP), to include, documenting and reporting the results accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Require(s) a Top Secret security clearance and a IT-I (privileged level systems access) will, immediately upon hire, require Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access eligibility
IAW DoD 8570.01-M, must meet IAT II minimum qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience managing, supporting, patching, backing up and restoring Linux/UNIX systems and applications in a DoD environment
Must have experience securing systems and applications in accordance with Federal, DoD and HQ PACOM regulations, directives, policies and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)
Must have experience with managing BIND DNS
Must have experience managing Linux/UNIX operating systems in a Virtual Machine Operating Environment (VOE) like VMware
Must have experience installing, configuring and managing Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) within a DoD environment
Must have experience managing SMTP Relay's
Must have experience managing and securing Apache Web Servers
Must have experience managing, supporting and using a SPLUNK Syslog server
Must have experience supporting Host Based Security System (HBSS) agents on Linux/UNIX systems
Must be Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) 6 (or later)certified and certification must be in good standing
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, are required for individuals supporting tasks in this PWS, as there will be considerable interaction with customers, vendors, Headquarters Program Director staff, and other high-level stakeholders in support of these requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
B.S. or other technical degree or equivalent work experience required
Security Certification is required. (Must be able to obtain certification)
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree or higher from accredited college or university in a field directly related to the duties of this position
Proven working experience as a Linux Subject Matter Expert
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
Applicant must sign a NON-EXCLUSIVE letter of commitment. The letter of commitment shows serious intent to perform this job function. Letter of commitment does not contractually obligate applicant to fill position. As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
