Job Description:

What's the role?

The Materials & Corrosion research Engineer will be part a 30 member global team delivering cutting edge R&D and advanced technical support for all lines of Shell business and JVs. The team delivers technology solutions for the full life cycle starting with concept through development, prototyping and deployment, including strategic initiatives in energy transition. The team relies on a diverse cast of experts within, along with a robust ecosystem of engineers and scientists in allied groups, external vendors, industrial partners and universities to deliver a research budget of $15-20 MM annually. The global and multi-disciplinary nature of the team relies heavily on leveraging digitalization, colleague’s skills, high levels of collaboration and external ecosystem for its sustained success.

The Materials and Corrosion Engineer is expected to:

Contribute to materials, corrosion and integrity R&D and ATS activities individually and as part of the team

Act as a materials selection and integrity focal point for CCS projects in the Americas region

Deliver fundamental insights and execute through programming script the establishment and subsequent improvement of corrosion model(s) for CCS environments

Provide feedback to research needs from D0->D4 to contribute to formulation of Materials & Corrosion Technology Platform strategy and Technology Maturation Plan.

Work collaboratively with global teams in US/NL/IN and the Asset support teams P&T and Operations.

Build and leverage vendor, university, and Joint Industry Programs to effectively deliver solutions.

Skills and Requirements

What we need from you -

Must have a legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent with sound knowledge and experiences in materials engineering and corrosion.

Mastery level proficiency with C# programming language

Knowledge level proficiency with VBA, Fortran, Matlab, Python, or Javascript programming languages

Credibly experienced technical professional with typically 4 years experience in research, engineering and/or field experience in oil and gas related asset.

Work experiences in the area R&D of materials and corrosion is required.

Ability to be qualified as TA2/3 in M&C

Ability to work effectively in project, asset, or research teams with individuals from diverse background and cultural environments.

Strong project delivery mindset and a high sense of personal accountability to deliver commitments.
