JOB DESCRIPTION

This role focuses on taking IT Operations to the next level by serving as a senior systems engineer using AI operations and monitoring tools to solve complex IT issues within Shell. Shell IT leadership has challenged the organization to pursue “IT Operations of the Future” by leveraging new approaches to drive more stable, secure, and cost-effective IT operations. A key part of this initiative is the Operations Intelligence Center of Expertise (CoE) that is composed of 5 teams. The focus of the Operations Intelligence CoE is the use of IT operational data to drive improved outcomes through AIOps, automation, and advanced monitoring.
What’s the role?
Strong collaboration with other Operations Intelligence CoE tooling teams to ensure that tooling operates consistently and is fit for purpose.
Engaging stakeholders with advice and guidance on how tooling can be leveraged to deliver improvements in IT services.
Creating and analyzing process performance reports enabling monitoring of compliance against CSLs and KPIs and raising back-to-green plans as needed to drive Operational Excellence for the Performance tooling.
Identifying structural improvements for the tools that are related to poor performance, gaps, or process anomalies that prevent effective tooling operations and working with suppliers to remediate as needed.
Managing the core tooling platforms that deliver AI Operations and application monitoring: Moogsoft AIOps Enterprise, Dynatrace Observability Platform, Shell Availability Engine, ThousandEyes, Tool Health and Operations Repository, and Aternity End User Experience Monitoring.
What we need from you?
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ development experience.
Operational experience leading monitoring teams using industry-leading tools at scale.
Problem-solver mentality with a proven track record deploying and operating monitoring tooling and custom .NET developed applications.
Expert using monitoring tools real-time to analyze issues and participate in incident response and restoration processes.
Strong record of effective engagement with senior IT stakeholder dealing with and communicating across operational issues.
Team leadership experience.
Expert development experience using .NET, C#, IIS, Visual Basic, PowerShell, application services, and Pearl.
Systems administration experience with Windows and Active Directory.
Experience implementing and managing applications in Azure Cloud and AWS Cloud.
Experience with monitoring tool integration to Moogsoft AIOps Enterprise including alert flows for event data (REST, API, webhooks, etc.).
Ability to work effectively across time zone, culture, and organization boundaries to do whatever is needed to resolve operational issues.
Require candidate to have experience configuring and administering Moogsoft AIOps Enterprise and Dynatrace Observability Platform.
Prefer candidate to have experience with ThousandEyes, Shell Availability Engine, Tool Health and Operations Repository, Business Service Management / Business Process Monitoring, Active Directory, and Aternity End User Experience Monitoring.
Prefer candidate with Dynatrace Associate Certification or better.
Knowledge of APM, EUM, STM, and Event Management / AI Operations, and self-healing or diagnostics automation – considered a subject matter expert in one or more areas.
