What’s the role?

A Support Engineer is typically an in-house Level 2 or 1 support technician who is a general expert in one or more application or infrastructure platforms. They provide support in Incident Management processes and perform against defined work instructions and troubleshooting scripts to debug issues associated with these applications/infrastructure platforms. The L2 Support Engineer typically gets involved inappropriately testing various changes to the application/infrastructure services through the Development, Test, Staging environment and performing Post-Production Testing to ensure technical changes have been correctly applied. Support may be provided both to users of the systems and to service delivery functions such as computer operations and help desk. Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving problems and providing information about the systems.

Accountabilities:

Support users and desktop equipment on the trade floor.

Problems may be resolved by providing advice or training to users about the application systems’ functionality, by correcting faults, by making general or site-specific modifications - often in close collaboration with the systems’ developers.

Communicating effectively with senior business leadership about issue statuses and keeping them informed is a critical part of this role.

The candidate must also be able to advise the business effectively on IT solutions to business problems.

Requests sent from the business to IT suppliers must be monitored and doing whatever is necessary to help suppliers fulfill business requests is essential.

The successful candidate must also be prepared to work with project teams and external suppliers to manage change to the network and server infrastructure with minimal impact to the business. This may require working on nights and weekends.

What we need from you
