Best Buy is seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join the Customer Identity Engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer.

The Customer Identity team's vision is to accurately and securely allow Best Buy’s customers to access their accounts and manage their identity through BestBuy.com. We provide tools and processes for customers to securely manager their identity with Best Buy including: Enabling customers to securely authenticate into BestBuy.com

Manage their personal information like emails and phone numbers

Connect their Best Buy identity with other 3rd parties

This is a hands-on Individual Contributor role that will work on full-stack development, though the primary focus is on front end technologies. The individual in this role will be involved throughout the development lifecycle for the Identity team with the primary responsibility of leading and developing highly scalable front-end components for the bestbuy.com website using modern JavaScript frameworks along with appropriate test automation, performance, and tools supporting the architecture.

What you will do as a Senior Software Engineer:

Work with the team to scope and stage large projects into actionable and well-defined milestones. Lead development workflow, providing work direction for development team through complex development on a suite of applications/programs

Execute on a strategy and create a more performant, more scalable, higher quality architecture.

Mentor junior engineers and be a technical leader on the team, leading sprint planning, design sessions, code reviews from a technical and process perspective.

Software development lifecycle phases-concept, design, development, testing, deployment, automation, and monitoring practices.

Front-end components and libraries in JavaScript leveraging frameworks like React and optimize for max speed and scalability.

Knowledge of industry trends and look for ways to apply those trends to your products.

Work together with a variety of teams across D&T.

Share and champion ideas that can evolve how we build products.

Learn and improve your own technical and non-technical abilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience

3 or more years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.

1 or more years of experience with backend web development using Java, Node, Kotlin, C# or similar.

1 or more years of experience as a technical lead; mentoring and guiding team members.

Preferred Qualifications

Decision-making and organizational abilities

Experience working with NoSQL databases like Cassandra or Redis

Experience working with HTML5 & CSS3

Dependency Management Experience (npm, yarn)

Continuous Build, Integration & Deployment (Webpack, Rollup, Github Actions, or Jenkins)

Monitoring & Support (Kibana, Splunk, Dynatrace, Pagerduty)

TDD / Refactoring / Automated unit tests, Integration tests, functional tests.

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills

Experience working with Git / Jira

Cloud Experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)
