We are looking for an innovative and technically curious Digital Engineer II

to join Best Buy's Enterprise Data Platform engineering team

. This team is responsible for delivering the platform and tooling that supports reporting, analysis, and machine learning initiatives throughout Best Buy. Engineers on the Enterprise Data Platform team design and build scalable, high performing data streaming systems that can stand up to peak holiday load. We build solutions that require advanced thinking in challenging disciplines like event sourcing, stream processing, and distributed systems.

This is a hands-on engineer position. The individual in this role will be involved throughout the development lifecycle for the Enterprise Data Platform, with the primary responsibility of developing Feature Store platform to process and analyze data flowing from multiple source systems using the latest cutting edge Streaming frameworks and techniques, for improved access and real-time usage of data for discovery, sharing insights across the enterprise to power various machine learning and personalization use cases.

Role Responsibilities:

Develops and maintains system applications, in accordance with Best Buy methodologies, technical standards, time and budget estimates. Interacts with business partners to document and clarify requirements. May direct the work of a small team of contract developers.

Works with internal/external developers to translate architectural requirements into detailed parameters by which coding must comply.

Leads design workshops and the preparation/writing of complex test scripts and fixes software defects when required.

Creates, reviews approves complex technical designs and specifications for a specific portion or function of a system.

Responsible for interacting with software development to lead a subset of development for a particular system or portion of a system.

Writes code for complex system software.

Required Qualifications:

6 or more years of software engineering experience

4 or more years of experience in both web and service-oriented environments using languages such as Java, Groovy, JavaScript or Python

2 or more years of experience in HTML, XML, CSS and REST Web Services

Preferred skills/experience:

5 or more years of experience with building micro-service applications

2 or more years of experience in data engineering or integration experience

5 or more years of experience with Apache Cassandra or any other NoSQL database technologies

4 or more years of experience with Apache Kafka or Google Cloud Pub/Sub or any other streaming messaging system

Experience with Google Cloud Dataflow or Apache Spark or any other stream processing systems

4 or more years of experience in an Agile environment.

2 or more years of experience in any Cloud platform, preferably Google Cloud or AWS.

Any level of experience with Containerized environments like Kubernetes or OpenShift

Any level of experience with JIRA or any other issue tracking technology
