Job Description:

What is the role?

The IT Product SME provides technical assurance and insight regarding the relevant application, product or domain and works closely with the Product Owner and Product Manager throughout the product lifecycle. The SME is an advisory role rather than a delivery role but will have full freedom to review and inspect delivery quality and to assure products perform as intended.

Responsibilities include:

Proactively participates as a member of the Gas Trading Product Delivery Team and is an active member in relevant IT Natural Working Teams

Serves as a technical thought leader on the art of the possible and supports/advises on the creation of the Product roadmap.

Executes technical research & development, and technical assurance of the delivery of the Product roadmap with the IT delivery organization.

Participates in the IT Product strategy to bring the view of technology implications.

Provides technical assurance and expertise to support full product lifecycle including product discovery, agile delivery and operations.

Plays an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful Product Delivery Team outcomes.

Collaborates and works with Vendors and Suppliers regarding technical issue resolution.

Acts as the escalation point for quality and technical issues related to the Product.

Works with application vendor(s) to understand new functionality/changes on the vendor’s roadmap.

Guides continuous improvement efforts to support business outcomes.

Skills and Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Minimum of 5 years IT experience preferably knowledgeable in Trading and Supply and proficient in Business Analysis

A deep understanding of the Energy Trading business processes and how the Gas Trading Product portfolio enables those processes.

Experience with the following is preferred:

Openlink/Endur software (Configuration, DB schema, and Simulations)

Microsoft Azure DevOps tools (such as ADO/VSTS and GIT)

Software Engineering processes (such as Configuration Management, Change Management, Release Management, etc.)

The role will require excellent collaboration and communication skill to manage various business stakeholders as well as IT partners.

Strong analytical aptitude. Able to analyze complex/ambiguous requirements and identify and drive value for the business.

Able to perform in virtual, cross-functional, cross-cultural teams.

Effective at managing multiple priorities and demand requests concurrently.

Experience with Agile as well as Waterfall delivery models.
