Job Description
The Schlumberger Limited Industrial Internet Center located in Sugar Land is the center-of-excellence (CoE) for digital enablement of all Schlumberger services utilizing Industrial Internet of Thing (IIoT) and Industrial Automation technology, to enable efficiency and productivity . The center provides technical leadership via Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and fosters collaboration across functions within the broader Schlumberger organization.
The Efficiency improvement areas are Asset Utilization, Maintenance Effectiveness, Employee Productivity, and Cost of Service Delivery Reduction
The Productivity improvement areas encompass NPT Reduction, Real time decisions, Process Optimization, and Availability Assurance
In the context of Schlumberger End-to-end Emissions Solutions (SEES), the SLIIC team is currently looking for a Digital Systems Engineer to combine different technologies & systems to provide digital solutions to SEES operations, including real-time monitoring, equipment remote control, and automation requirements’ definition.
More specifically, the Digital Systems Engineer will lead the definition of the edge hardware and software platform, develop the automation architecture and core services including data acquisition services to interface and control Methane monitoring systems.
This position requires excellent technical, communication, and coordination skills. The main stakeholders are the SEES Business team, as well as the SLIIC Methane Measurement Program Manager.
Responsibilities
Interact with stakeholders to define technical project requirements
Conduct the software and electronics development process using established company project management methodologies, tools, and procedures
Help plan and conduct regular product technical reviews
Ensure through good communication that the quality of deliverables meets operations and stakeholder expectations
Develop and maintain high-quality software
Develop a hardware electronics product file as per the company’s best practices
Support Field Tests
Coordinate training of end users
Stay current with the latest technologies in Internet of Things (IoT)
Create tasks and specifications based on requirements
Deliver code and tests (test plan and unit tests)
Incorporate best practices of UX (User eXperience)
Education & Experience
MS in Computer Science or Engineering
7 years of mixed digital electronics and software or embedded software development experience
Technical Skills
Able to develop rapid prototyping for both digital electronic and software architectures
Expert in low level languages such as C
Expert in at least one object-oriented programming language (C , C#, Python) and design patterns
Experience in digital electronic design, testing and debugging.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering product file is a plus
Experience with digital communication protocols such as UART, SPI, CAN, USB, Ethernet etc...
Basic knowledge in signal processing and RF technologies
Experience with modeling tools such as Matlab, Simulink, Simscape
Experience with lab development tools such as LabView, LabWindows is a plus
Comfortable with Linux
Experienced and meticulous about Azure DevOps processes and Agile software development concepts
Well versed in source control (git) and software unit testing platforms. Must be comfortable with at least one git workflow
Basic knowledge about micro services such as Docker containers is a plus
Experience with Robotics and ROS (Robotics Operating System) is a plus
Knowledge of Modbus or Network Messaging Protocols (such as MQTT) is a plus
Azure IoT Edge knowledge is a plus
Experience with model-based design techniques such as MIL, PIL, HIL is a plus
Knowledge of DJI drone modules and APIs is a plus
