Job Description:

MCDS professionals work with data and mathematical and physics-based models for nearly all business units in Shell. The models and insights created support the business in finding hydrocarbons, running facilities, creating new products, and understanding customer needs and behaviour.

What’s the role?

The ML/AI Engineer will join a vibrant team of Data Scientist and ML/AI Engineer team working within the Data Science and ML Capability Center (CC) within the Information, Data and Analytics (IDA) team/IT Digital Engineering VPship. The ML/AI Engineer will be responsible for initiating, development and deployment of data science solutions/products in an agile fashion to meet demand across multiple business lines. They will also be accountable for adhering to Shell quality standards for producing digital solutions.

Accountabilities include:

Work within the Data Science and ML team to deploy models to production, using existing and emerging methods and technologies that could be effectively applied to Shell use cases

Build core infrastructure around feature engineering, model training, model deployment, ongoing monitoring tools, and much more

Work closely with Product Management to translate product requirements into robust, customer-agnostic machine learning architectures

Keep abreast of new engineering practices, technologies and continuously improving our Agile practices and building and strengthening relationships and alliances in academia, IDT and industry

Contribute to community building initiatives like CoE, CoP.

What we need from you?

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

Minimum of four (4) years in System design of large Machine Learning Applications

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of development competency across a breadth of languages, frameworks, and tooling, such as Python, R, Java, JavaScript/JVM, Scala, Reactive Streams, Kafka (Python preferred)

Knowledge in designing application using Azure Machine Learning Services

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring machine learning and deep learning solutions

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Application development, deployment, and monitoring on Kubernetes

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in cloud Application Development using AWS or Azure

Minimum of two (2) years of experience implementing, Improving, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipeline

Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with data scientists and/or ML engineers and building auto-scaling ML systems

Knowledge in data engineering and storage, including across breadth of tools such as S3, RDS, EFS, ADLS Gen2, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos, ADF, No-SQL, graph db, Spark, etc.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in automating Infrastructure creation using Terraform, Helm

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in distributed computing such as Spark, Pyspark, Databricks

Knowledge in designing workflow or Orchestration systems such as Airflow, Dagster etc

Experience in extracting, cleansing, and manipulating large, diverse structured and unstructured data sets.

Knowledge in applying ML algorithms, Optimization, and technologies to time series forecasting

Knowledge in Bash or Powershell Scripting and Linux Operating system and networking fundamentals

Strong communication skills, especially explaining technical concepts to business people & to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team

Strong desire to stay ahead of industry trends & technologies with a commitment to continuous learning.

Experience working in small, empowered, delivery focused, cross-functional and collaborating teams

Experience of working in a virtual team and with virtual stakeholders

Nice to have Skills Cloud

Data engineering skills using Azure/AWS/Google cloud native tools

Designing ML application using Sagemaker/Google Vertex AI

Good experience in Bash\PowerShell Scripting and Linux Operating system and networking fundamentals.

Front end application development using React

Application development using .Net/c#

Experience in extracting, cleansing, and manipulating large, diverse structured and unstructured data sets

Knowledge and experience in applying ML algorithms and technologies to time series forecasting, Machine Vision, NLP
