The Business Core Systems department is looking for a Full-time Software Application developer. Reporting to the SR. IT Manager, this Software Application Developer is responsible for the design and implementation of applications’ build, release, deployment, and configuration activities. Other responsibilities include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, and architecting, implementing/updating solutions, building and executing test plans, performing quality reviews, and triaging and fixing operational and production issues.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
*Creates technical design specifications. *Develops/builds IT solutions to meet business requirements. *Installs and configures solutions. *Integrates solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework. *Experience converting functional requirements into technical requirements *Translates business and technical requirements into test cases, test scenarios and scripts. *Develops and/or implements reusable components. *Codes and documents custom test automation frameworks. *Maintains new and existing object reference files. *Performs script maintenance and updates due to changes in requirements or implementation. *Assists with setup and maintenance of test environments for both manual and automated testing. *Adheres to all development standards and procedures. *Experience working on software upgrades and/or integrations. *Deploys new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment. *Documents and completes knowledge transfer to production support. *Reviews modules for quality assurance. *Provides technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members. *Works as a project team member, or independently on small projects. *Works on moderate to complex tasks in support of one or more projects that require a singular area of expertise. *Technical skill in multiple technical environments and knowledge of a specific business area. *Participates in project planning processes *Creates and shares development estimates and operational requirements to enable accurate planning with realistic timelines. *May serve as a liaison between client partners, BCS, and vendors in coordination with project managers to provide technical solutions that address end-user needs. *Writes and communicates business requirements and technical specifications for the implementation of client solutions. *Excellent communication and team skills with the proven ability to multitask *Works closely with leadership to assure all systems are in line with BCS’s long-term strategy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science or other related field and 3 years relevant technical or business work experience– OR – Associate’s degree in Programming/Systems or Computer Science Information Systems or related field with 9 years of relevant technical or business related experience –OR – H/S diploma and 15 years relevant technical or business related work experience.
*Experience working in applications, systems or IT operations. *Knowledge of an agile team environment and process. *Experience in writing and debugging complex SQL *Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. *Requires working knowledge of two or more programming languages. *Comfort with frequent, incremental code, testing and deployment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*Proficiency with PeopleSoft applications and PeopleTools, preferably Campus Solutions *Experience using Application Designer, Application Engine, PS Query, PeopleCode, SQR, Oracle SQL, Integration Broker, Component Interface, BI Publisher, Equation Engine and COBOL. *Experience or familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, SOAP-UI and CSS. *Experience with code reviews, thorough unit testing, and developing test plans *Solid interpersonal skills, with ability to work well with people of all levels of information technology expertise and comfort in varied organizational relationships. *Ability to participate in rotational on-call support
