Aon is looking for 2022 Summer Interns to join our Catastrophe Modeling team as a Catastrophe Data Modeling Summer Intern! As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our reinsurance business group within Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions line in Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL. Your Impact As a Catastrophe Data Modeling Summer Intern  As part of the Catastrophe Management team, you will be in a support role in assisting the Reinsurance analytics team members and brokers with risk assessment and risk management consulting for Reinsurance clients.  You will assist with day to day tasks, ad hoc projects, and key initiatives.  The Catastrophe Risk Internship offers the possibility of joining Aon’s catastrophe management department and early career development program after graduation (outlined below). Interns will be provided with exposure to both Catastrophe Management and Broking departments as a jumpstart to their careers at Aon.   Aon’s Catastrophe Management department is hiring for multiple internship roles for the summer of 2022. You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Suggested Experience (All internship roles): Proven analytical skills.  Prior analytical and problem-solving experience from academic and/or business environment Strong attention to detail when working on analytical projects and preparing PowerPoint slides or other client-ready materialExperience interpreting data, analyzing results, and identifying trends in complex datasetsExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate well with others externally and internally.  Well-rounded communication skills and ability to interact with variety of audiencesCommitment to learning and developmentAbility to think strategically and analytically as well as work independently and take initiativePositive attitudeExperience with Microsoft Office Suite tools (Excel, Word, PPT) required.  Programming experience (SQL, R or Python) and/or Visualization Software Skills (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) a plus!Catastrophe Management Client Delivery Intern: Candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Math or other similarly quantitative or analytically oriented major.   Model Evaluation Intern: Candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Meteorology, Geophysics, Statistics or other similarly quantitative or analytically oriented majorDemonstrated basic knowledge or intuition of catastrophe models, peril science, and structure response to natural disastersAbility to comprehend and summarize academic and industry research on natural catastrophes and climate change and present on research topics to an audience of varied backgroundsCatastrophe Actuarial Intern: Candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Actuarial Science, Economics, Finance, Math, Engineering or other similarly quantitative or analytically oriented majorActuarial candidate having pass multiple actuarial examsAdvanced programming and SQL skills required.Applicants for this role are on track to graduate between December 2022 – June 2023 and have a GPA of 3.0 or above.  A Pipeline into the Launch Program The Launch Program was established to coach and develop future business leaders, this program “launches” the Aon careers of our campus hires in various full-time positions across the company. The Launch training curriculum prepares participants for success as they build relationships and explore growth opportunities throughout the organization.  The 10-month development program begins every summer with a three-day kickoff orientation at our North America headquarters in Chicago.
