Summary of Duties & Job Description

As a Lead Software Engineer you will be working with leadership to conceptualize our next generation product, leading a development team to design and build it, contributing to the technical architecture of our enterprise data platform (including improvements to our cloud infrastructure and DevOps), leading the analysis and resolution of production issues, and helping continually improve our processes.

On any given day you may:

Lead by example doing hands-on platform development

Mentor team members to level up our overall skill set

Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback

Lead investigation of system issues to identify root causes and work out short term / long term solutions

Design and implement best practices in our software development processes

Propose new ideas, frameworks, technologies

What you bring to the table

You are a lead engineer with 7 or more years of experience with Cloud-based big data platform development. You are capable of owning significant design and development responsibility. You can work with autonomy to get things done while collaborating with others on architectural and process decisions. You are comfortable with giving and receiving feedback from your teammates and others in the organization. You can think on your feet and conceptualize what needs to be done from incomplete and evolving requirements. You hit deadlines and communicate effectively.

The successful candidate will also have experience with:

Azure Cloud Services

Designing solutions architecture

Building big data platform

Building RESTful APIs

Designing data models

Working with Infrastructure and security as code

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or above in Computer Science or related field

7 years of Cloud-based big data platform design and development experience

Proficient with any of the mainstream programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala or Go

Proficient in modern software designs, such as microservices and event driven architectures.

Experience with building enterprise level data lakes and data warehouses by leveraging any of the major cloud providers (GCP, AWS or Azure)

Experience with architecting, implementing and maintaining software in the area of data intensive applications.

Experience with designing and implementing integration patterns of data from multiple data sources.

Experience with building batch and streaming systems, using solutions such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Spark-Streaming or Flink

Experience of various persistence technologies (RDBMS or any NoSQL solutions such as Mongo DB, Cassandra, Neo4j), deep understanding and hands on experience with at least one of these is highly desirable.

Experience with security in industry standards like TLS, OAuth2.

Knowledge of modern CICD automation eco-systems: Azure DevOps and pipelines, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, Kubernetes, GitHub, and configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible

Great communication and decision-making skills in dynamic team environments.
