The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity (CONNECT) organization is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers! About the Team: This SDWAN platform team is responsible for deploying the third-party Versa software in the cloud, and maintaining the platform throughout its life cycle. Engineers within the Data Network Platform Engineering (DNPE) team need to bring a special mix of unique talents and abilities in order to confront the novel challenges we tackle head-on every day. You will be at the forefront of real-world deployment of large virtualized networking platforms and services, working in a collaborative, agile environment to design, develop, and deploy Software Defined Networks (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and other automation at Comcast. Overview of the Role: The certification engineer is responsible for certifying & validating a cloud-based platform to support Comcast network solutions, such as security compliance, platform performance/scalability, evaluation of various private/public cloud & hardware platform options and migration path, network feature integration, and cloud resources management as well as capacity growth.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

This engineer role certifies/validates SDWAN platform products & network features, functional, performance, scalability, & architectural migration.

Consistently work with leads, matrix teams of experts, project managers, and other engineers to drive technology that provides for smooth introduction of new products/features as well as continuous improvement.

Work with local and virtual teams to shorten our RD and Design cycle for new products and network evolution.

Understand & review system architecture and feature requirements to define, review, and execute test plans & use cases.

Properly document test results with in-depth technical evaluation, visual presentation, cost efficiency, & business impact.

Deploy vendor software & other apps on cloud-based environments or physical hardware, set up test bed with physical and virtual devices to perform functional, performance/scale, soak & stress testing.

Gather and analyze production & lab-testing data as well as performance metrics vs platform specs & cost factors, generate comprehensive reports for engineering/business reviews as well as for future product design enhancements.

Validate and document SMOPs for operational deployment and maintenance.

Work efficiently in Agile/scrum methodology, process, & tools (e.g, Rally, Jira)

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Requirements:

Knowledge networking concepts and administration (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, GRE, Open vSwitch, Load balancing)

Certification or test automation experience on cloud-based platform or SDN products.

Developing/testing scalable web services using RESTful or SOAP services with related technologies such as JSON and XML

Hands on Experience in Oracle/MongoDB/MySQL/Cassandra

Experience in testing frameworks such as JUnit, Ant

Experience with Scrum, TDD and DevOps/Continuous Integration such as Jenkins, Git, Puppet, Gerrit, SonarQube, Ansible

Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently with minimal supervision in an agile (SCRUM) environment

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Understanding of the OpenStack project ecosystem and open source hypervisor technologies (Xen, KVM).

Experience supporting large-scale, Elastic, Highly Available cloud environment orchestration on AWS, Azure or OpenStack

Experience with monitoring & data analysis tools and alerting systems such as Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, Nagios, OpsView, HP BTO, New Relic, or Big Brother

Knowledge of Linux and common Linux applications (Kernel tuning, iptables, MySQL, RabbitMQ, HAproxy, Apache).

Microservices strategy and implementation

Experience in Multi-threading, Performance Tuning, Complex Data Model projects

Experience with Virtual Router (Nokia VRS, Cisco, Juniper, Brocade), VNF (vLB, vFW, v DNS)

Good experience with Software Defined Networking models (Yang/Netconf/yaml) , solid understanding of the SDN/NFV controllers architecture like Tail-F, Contrail, Versa, Nuage, Cyan, Onos, OpenDaylight, etc.
