Some roles can work virtual full-time if they are not near a Tech Hub, but that is dependent upon the needs of the position and amount of collaboration required.

Job Summary

As a Senior Principal Software Architect working on the Delivery Engineering team part of the DevX organization, you will be enabling Comcast developers in faster delivery of reliable, performant, and scalable software products. You will be a technical leader on the team, having a large amount of input on technical design decisions and serving as a liaison to our collaborators, primarily other development teams. On our team, leadership is earned and not appointed; your communication and teamwork skills are just as important-if not more important-than your technical skills.

About the team

You will be joining Delivery Engineering teams that build and operate highly scalable delivery platforms to help 1000 development teams deliver their software better, cheaper and faster.

We are forward-thinking DevOps teams that value minimalist processes and full end-to-end ownership of our platform from design, development, testing, deployment, support, monitoring and maintenance.

Beyond building and operating the platform, we are stewards of Delivery practices for a large Comcast technology organization, helping thousands of engineers deliver their software better, cheaper and faster. We create dedicated focus on delivery enablement work.

We are looking to expand our capabilities in the Continuous Delivery part of CI/CD: if you are passionate about infrastructure deployment, sophisticated deployment techniques and love leveling up others in these capabilities, you would be an excellent fit on this team.

What you'll do

Serving as an architect for the CI/CD platform teams: proposing changes and then leading implementation of technical improvements and new delivery capabilities

Leading a CI/CD Experience team that creates paved road features and experiences for developers, making it faster, cheaper or better for them to deliver their software

Working with collaborators to understand their roadmaps and identify critical technical capabilities that need development

Writing technical designs and documentation at varying levels of granularity

Leading technology R&D: building proof-of-concepts and conducting exploratory experiments

Writing and reviewing tested, production-quality code when needed

Serving as an ambassador of CI/CD technologies and platform engineering to the broader technical community, both inside and outside Comcast

What you'll bring

10 years of relevant work experience

Relevant Computer Science coursework or bootcamp experience/equivalent

Proficiency in automated testing and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices

Deep knowledge of deployment and debugging in Linux container environments

Excellent software development skills, in a diverse set of programming styles (either procedural, object-oriented, functional)

Hands-on experience developing distributed systems and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability

Experience with Agile development methodologies and practices

Experience with platform engineering a plus

UNIX/Linux background: facility with command-line utilities; familiarity with system administration tools and concepts a plus

Experience with Go, Ansible, Terraform, and AWS a plus

Ability to fix sophisticated distributed systems to identify and resolve issues

Understanding of security standard methodologies

Experience with open source contributions a plus
