What will I be doing?

The Vice President of Property Software Engineering will help Hilton deliver reliable and friendly experiences while creating the best, most inclusive home for our Team Members. As a top-level technical leader, you will drive our innovative property technology platforms, development, innovation, and internal/external technical thought leadership. The position leads sophisticated solution architecture, platform architecture, and software engineering to bring new capabilities to life to support our hotels and the entire customer journey lifecycle.

The Vice President of Property Software Engineering will collaborate with the broader Software Engineering Leadership Team to build and grow our architectural and software engineering excellence in the organization and evolve our software development methodologies, all while working alongside the team to develop and integrate solutions that will solve complex on-property business problems. This leader will also drive an enhanced Software Engineering culture, partner effectively with our key business leads, and advise numerous internal business partners on all aspects of developing creative technical solutions. You will also build and own technology roadmaps for our property technology ecosystem, establish reference architectures, and drive research & development in the domain to incubate innovation.

Specific requirements include:

A proven leader capable of guiding and growing humble, hungry, and inquisitive technical teams.

A shown progression of successful solutioning and delivery of capabilities via software as a team leader, and development manager.

Solid ability to partner with key internal collaborators and shape the future technology vision for the property domain.

Strong track record of managing vendors and development partners to deliver on their commitments for Hilton property technologies.

Expertise in AWS cloud platform, Vue JS, the react framework -Next.js, and associated development technologies to be able to guide the technical solutioning and strategy in the property space.

Ability and readiness to be hands-on in guiding the teams through development and technical issues.

Experience leading the development of technologies used to support hotel operations, as well as integrating 3rd party and associated technologies into Property management systems.

Demonstrated sharp focus on addressing the functional, technical, and implementation-related aspects of the technologies being developed for our properties.

Extensive business, technical, and procedural knowledge to handle the workflow, financials, staffing, output, overall standards, and procedures of a large software development team.

Experience leading and delivering capabilities for property technologies through the application of a comprehensive software development process and agile methodologies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Build positive, dependable, and highly effective working relationships across Hilton.

Build and manage strong client relationships including setting appropriate expectations and addressing customer satisfaction.

Develop successful platform, architecture, and software engineering teams, preparing a succession plan for key positions and top performers annually.

Develop current talent to achieve greater strategic goals and performance.

Teamwork and partnership with our Customer Experience Organization, Business, and Technology partners to plan and implement projects requiring software engineering while ensuring that teams have appropriate technical guidance and resources to deliver projects on an aggressive but achievable timeline.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship on software development tools, technology, and SDLC methodologies.

Guide the team to complete the modernization and continuous improvement of the property technologies and architecture while ensuring consistently high-quality performance.

Ensure the team never loses sight of our mission to augment/enrich the real Hilton product: The Stay.

Drive the collaborative technical culture so team members obsess about scale, performance, quality, security, and ease of use while developing world-class software for our properties.

Maintain deep knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in software development related to the hospitality industry and use that to shape the multi-year vision for the property software engineering team.

Strong executive presence along with strong verbal and written communication skills are a must for successfully facilitating and participating in meetings, conference calls, etc., and handling outward communications to partners, senior management, etc.

Dynamic leadership and agent of change capable of influencing the direction of the organization while maintaining a culture where team members are fully empowered and recognized as critical assets to Hilton's success.

Ability to link vision and strategy with overall business goals and communicate rationale in a compelling, concise manner.

Must possess superb interpersonal skills with solid attention to detail.

Must be highly motivated with a desire to achieve success through collaboration and teamwork.

Ability to work well with people from many different fields with varying degrees of technical experience, Including others in the department and people in other groups and/or outside the corporation.

Demonstrate a repertoire of skills such as scheduling, prioritizing, organizing, planning, problem-solving, decision-making, financial savvy, attention to detail, and follow-through.

In-depth knowledge of modern software development technologies and processes.

Can travel as required.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

Fifteen (15) years of experience as a technical leader

Thirteen (13) years of building and managing distributed software development teams across different disciplines

Ten (10) years of direct people leadership experience

Eight (8) years of experience effectively working across key partner groups to deliver large-scale projects

Three (3) years of experience with on-property operations and property technologies

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

Bachelor's Degree in STEM, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or another related technical field

Ten (10) years of hospitality, travel, or transportation industry experience with a mix of experience from a variety of software development roles
