Description
The Provider Insights & Claims Analytics (PICA) team is a blend of technology, data, and consulting professionals leveraging the latest tools and methods to solve complex business problems. In this role the Data Architect works in multiple data environments with responsibilities for data design, database architecture, metadata and repository creation. These assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
The Data Architect is responsible for collaboratively developing scalable, efficient, and comprehensive data structures to enable analytics and insight generation for internal customers and partner teams. Primary duties include:
Translating business needs into long-term data architecture solutions
Defining, designing, building, and maintaining dimensional database schemas, such as star or snowflake schemas
Evaluating reusability of current data for separate analyses
Conducting data sheering to rid the system of old, unused or duplicate data
Reviewing object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access
Understanding department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas
Making decisions regarding own work methods mostly within established guidelines/procedures, occasionally in ambiguous situations
Translating reporting and analysis needs into database design
Migrating and optimizing the current on-premises environment to a MS Azure cloud environment

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
Strong SQL knowledge, including writing complex, performant queries to pull data from multiple platforms such as SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Netezza, Oracle, or DB2
Experience working on the design and implementation of large data technologies and solutions related to data warehouses, data lakes and data marts within a cloud data environment including tasks such as data architecture design, automation, security, storage and configurations.
Experience creating and maintaining automated extract-transform-load (ETL) processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory, SnapLogic, and/or Python
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Python or similar programming language
Understanding of how to define, design and build dimensional database schemas, including star and snowflake schemas
Working knowledge of DevOps methods and CI/CD automation practices
Proficiency in understanding Healthcare related data
Proficiency in verbal and written communication
Knowledge of Power BI as reporting tool and its data access architecture is a plus.
Proficiency in design of various database objects such as Views, Stored Procedures, Functions etc.
Experience migrating on-premises data to MS Azure
