Senior Real Time Power Trader - Houston, TX

Job Description:
Serve as part of a rotating 12-hour shift team, assuming all duties of the Real-time desk (7 days on, 7 days off).
Develop and automate business logic and settlements to support routine and one-off trading strategies, including, but not limited to, (1) bilateral transactions (OTC and ICE) (2) DAM submissions (energy and ancillary services) and (3) portfolio optimization.
Maintain expertise in the use of various computer languages, including, but not limited to QSL, .NET, VB, SSRS, and VBA.
Become a subject matter expert in operations and contractual arrangements for combined cycle and simple cycle resources.
Possess a functional understanding of power-plant operations and operational constraints.
Possess a functional understanding of procurement and divestiture of short-term fuel.
Facilitate offer strategies based upon internal price forecasts, including energy and ancillary services.
Serve as a subject matter expert on ISO operations and Scheduling / Marketing entity interfaces for ERCOT, PJM, NEISO, SERC, MISO, IESO, and SPP.
Serve as a resource for onboarding/offboarding assets into Shell Energy’s East Power Real-time Portfolio.
Author, implement, and maintain procedures for behind-the-meter load and/or resource optimization, black-start, quick-start, and intra-day asset optimization.
Trade and transact energy, ancillary services. Facilitate trades for intra-day gas.
Participate in ISO training pertaining to any rule change associated with wholesale market operations.
Develop strategies and implement trades on behalf of Shell Customers.
Track performance, and Develop standardized daily reports.
Contribute to the development of daily team performance metrics.

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum of two (2) years experience preferably from Power Trading or Electric System Operations Environment as Power / Gas Trader, Operations Manager, Risk Control, Trading Analyst, ISO/RTO, Generation Dispatch, or similar.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
Concentrations in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or similar fields or an equivalent combination of experience and education strongly preferred.
Previous experience in a Trading role strongly preferred.
Knowledge with Endur / OpenLink would be a plus.

Knowledge of all relevant financial and physical power and gas products including and an understanding of transmission / transportation networks.
