While we deliver hardware storage appliances, over 90% of our engineering staff are software engineers. Core OS engineers play a critical role in providing a secure foundation to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. software developers. They create and enhance the base Linux distribution that is deployed as a part of our products in the Data Center and in the Cloud. Core OS engineers work closely with upstream open source developer communities, and with internal development teams including CI/CD teams, data center operations teams and security teams. Core OS engineers play a key role in Pure’s overall product security initiative by maintaining a constant flow of OS upgrades and thus enable our customers to live on the cutting edge of technology while never taking downtime, ever.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...
Develop software infrastructure and processes for managing distribution repositories, packages and upgrades.
Own and drive upgrades our core OS Ubuntu on a regular cadence to the latest version across the FlashArray and Flashblade platforms.
Build and demonstrate expertise in Core OS system services, applications and libraries.
Influence the product architecture and help implement strategies to help us efficiently maintain a large fleet in the field through timely “push” upgrades.
Collaborate with CI/CD and data center teams to optimize build flow and resource usage.
Collaborate and consult with peer development teams through knowledge sharing and code reviews.
Full life cycle software development from architecture through development, release and maintenance.
SKILLS THAT YOU NEED FOR THE ROLE…
Required
3 years of experience with Linux desktop/server/embedded distributions as a user, developer or administrator.
Strong coding skills in at least two of C, C , Rust, Python, Go, bash etc.
Interest in working on diverse components and tackling problems across the full Linux software stack.
Desired
Experience with RHEL/Debian/Ubuntu packaging and package management.
Experience in customizing Linux distributions for embedded, desktop, server or cloud applications.
Experience in working with upstream open source communities.
Working knowledge of common tools and frameworks used in CI/CD environments.
Bachelor’s or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering.
