What's the role

The Senior Technical Business Analyst role is responsible to work closely with the IT teams and business to design, develop and deliver the fit for purpose IT solutions for one of the application portfolios in the Trading and Supply businesses at Royal Dutch Shell plc. The role is also responsible for the knowledge (technical and functional) building of the team and help them deliver the complex solution. The role need to work with different other teams to respond to any urgent issues which might disrupt the business. You need to have an end to end knowledge of the system architecture and industry best practices.

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership and support to the delivery teams who are working on various Endur application instances, and to represent competency centre in various deeper and strategic ETRM platform related matters.

You will provide technical leadership to distributed teams guiding systems design, architecture, user interface, and integration and development processes. Apply technology expertise in solution architecture and deep understanding of the issues and trends relevant to the energy trading industry today to realize ground breaking technology solutions for business.

The accountability includes:


Solution design and validate the various solution options, system improvements, working closely with business, and translate requirements into system design.
Provide techno-functional leadership for the ETRM projects.
Lead the design and implementation of complex solutions.
Work closely with the business to understand the business problem and arrive at the solution.
Translate business requirements into system design.
Verify technical feasibility and validate the solution options.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert for ETRM solutions and drive knowledge management.
Drive system improvements and EOD improvements.
Guide business analysts and developers towards the best possible solution.
Evaluate the solution to make sure it is the most efficient and cost effective solution available.

Requirements:


Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor's Degree related to Information Technology required.
At least five (5) years of corporate IT Trading domain experience in an IT delivery related role.
Strong experience in delivering IT solutions for ETRM platform, having experience of variety of roles (including providing technical leadership role). Should have sound experience in Endur ETRM application.
Strong technical skills specifically on platforms like Java/J2EE and .NET. With understanding of overall technical landscape and view on how emerging technologies play a role in ETRM space.
Experience in writing strong SQLs. Good understanding of at least 1 RDBMS which includes performance tuning, profiling, etc.
Good understanding of the energy/commodity trading industry from an end-to-end perspective.
Prior experience providing vision and guidance to business analysts, developers and OpenLink Endur specialists as to the overall architecture of the solution.
Experience in both physical and financial trading environments.
Experience in system configuration, customization/implementation, integration and testing.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and inter-personal skills.
Positive attitude, committed to achieving deadlines and results with a demonstrable track record of delivering results.
Proven ability to deal with conflict and ambiguity effectively.
Proven ability to handle concurrent tasks with appropriate priority.
Team player, works effectively with all levels in organisation (business & IT).
Work effectively in virtual, geographic dispersed, cross cultural environments.
Take ownership of problems and respond in a proactive manner where appropriate.
Proven record of delivering against stretch targets.
Can master multiple different technology platforms in parallel in terms of concept, configuration and co-deployment.
Ability to understand the bigger picture related to data flow between Endur and connected applications.
Can explain which business value/benefits a specific IT solution creates.
