Sociology and/or Criminal Justice with a focus in
Cyber Security

The Department of Sociology, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Sciences, offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Cyber Security.
Graduates from the program
acquire
knowledge about cyber security concepts, theories, and strategies relevant to real world organizations,
cases
stu
dies, and events. Students
acquire
knowledge related to national and global networks of cyber security law and organizations and related issues of ethics and privacy. Although students will learn the basics of computer forensics
through courses offered by the Department of Computer Sciences
, the cyber security (criminal justice track) is a non-technical curriculum
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will
be required
to teach a variety of courses
such as
: U.S. Cyber Security Law and Policy; Global Cyber Security Law and Policy; Cyber Espionage, Cyber Terrorism and Hacktivism; Cyber Security in Public Organizations, Criminalistics of Cybercrime, Cyber Crime and Homeland Security, etc.,
and
introduction courses in Sociology and/or Criminal J
ustice.

he successful candidate
will be
expected to contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda that includes grantsmanship.
Additionally,
the successful candidate
should
demonstrate
dedication to the progress of the
Department of Sociology,
the School of Liberal Arts and Education, and
Hampton University t
hrough service activities.
Qualifications
Qua
lified candidates must have
earned
a
doctorate in
Sociology with a focus in Cyber Security, and/or Criminal Justice with a focus in Cyber Security
from an accredited
university
Experience in and evidence of successful teaching in a university setting is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with
demonstrated
experience in research and
grantsmanship.
The expectation
is to
hire
a
t the Assistant Professor rank,
but considerations
we
be made to fill the
position at a higher rank depending upon the qualifications of the applicant. Rank and compensation are
commensurate
with credentials and experience.
