The Infrastructure Engineer’s role is to assist with designing, building, deploying, and maintaining the IT infrastructure using the latest technology. This includes network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems. The Infrastructure Engineer works closely with and under the guidance of the IT Systems Architect and Network Engineer. In addition, a positive attitude, rigorous work habit, and professionalism in the workplace are musts as well as strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
Collaborate with system architect and network engineer to create optimal network design topologies and configurations.
Prepare and ensure accuracy of documentation, procedures manuals, and help sheets for network and systems installations, including data, voice, and video systems.
Acquisition & Deployment
Support development, configuration, implementation, and monitoring of networking projects and new technology installations.
Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
Operational Management
Maintain and support multi-site windows environment along with hardware and software configuration.
Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures – monitor, read logs, and recommend actions.
Assist in maintenance of security solutions, servers, and network hardware and equipment, including routers and switches.
Develop and program routine scripts in a common programming language such as PowerShell.
Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network and server data.
Recognize patterns in reported incidents, diagnose underlying root causes, and devise timely and effective resolutions as necessary.
Document all systems, processes, and procedures in a timely, clear, and concise manner.
Position Requirements
Formal Education
Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science and 5 years’ work experience.
Knowledge & Experience
Ability to quickly learn how to implement and manage new applications, systems, and related technologies.
Ability to manage multiple high priority projects and initiatives simultaneously.
Strong Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory knowledge.
Strong VMware knowledge.
Knowledge of current network, server, and security protocols and standards.
Hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware and software.
Law firm experience preferred.
