Job Description:
The Public Safety Communications Technician will serve as the initial point of contact for internal and external customers to the Department of Public Safety. Customers may be walk in or telephone contacts.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for dispatching police, fire, and EMS to the location of emergency incidents in a safe and efficient manner; monitoring alarms, closed circuit television, and emergency telephone systems; providing information to incoming contacts; and for maintaining information in the computer systems.
Serve as the initial point of contact for students, staff, and visitors to the college or the department and possess an extensive and diverse knowledge of the campus and its resources; Will be able to answer questions, provide information, and direct customers to the appropriate campus resource in a courteous and professional way.
Monitor alarm panels, CCTV systems and the campus emergency notification system. Conduct JNET, CLEAN, and NCIC checks when required and complete accurate written communications to include daily incident logs, dispatch logs, campus emergency notifications, and all other documents made available to both internal and external sources.
Maintain close contact with officers in the field to ensure their safety and facilitate the request for additional resources when needed at an emergency scene.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Entry Level Position, no prior work experience is required
APCO certificate is preferred
Intermediate level of proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office is required
Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
Additional Information:
